Wish I could come to the class. Those cards are fabulous! I just love the colors and texture. Thanks so much for your kind words on my first ATC attempts. I love your book and am really enjoying the small scale more than I thought I would.

Hello Bernie,

I am a mixed media artist. I generally use acrylics, textural acrylic mediums, oil pastel, pens, etc. in my paintings. I would like to branch out a bit and try collage. I became interested in collage when I first saw Anne Bagby's work many years ago.

Recently I heard about ATC's, and they have captured my imagination. I now have your ATC Workshop book and am planning to try many of the collage techniques you present, and I have just purchased many of the supplies. Your work and the work of other artists in your book is simply stunning!

I do have a few questions which I hope you wouldn't mind responding to.

1. When using the "transfer" technique, can black and white inkjet images be transferred, or must they be color?

2.Is there any reason why an image can't be traced and the transferred using graphite paper? I'd like to transfer images of parts of my current paintings onto ATC's and rework them using collage techniques.

3. Is collage always done on paper or can it be done on boards? I have many boards (including cradled ones) that I'd like to utilize if I decide to continue doing collage on a slightly larger scale (larger than ATC's that is). Would collage techniques work just as well using a gessoed board as a support?

I am excited about trying the techniques in your book and about making and collecting ATC's.

Please take a look at my work at dawnmclaughlin.com.if you'd care to. I would welcome your comments.

Thank you so much!
Dawn
